STEAM
WHY STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. These main focuses in the field of STEAM introduce our students to hands-on critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
As our lives become increasingly intertwined with technology, we know that regardless of the field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on their understanding of and ability to adapt to new technology.
That's why we put an emphasis on a high-level STEAM program to prepare our students.
3D PRINTERS
Both our elementary school and middle school students have access to multiple 3D printers. Students can create, design, and build their very own 3D designs in our STEAM lab.
STEAM TOPICS
As early as kindergarten our students explore and investigate countless topics, all catered to their developmental level. Some topics include;
- Ballistics
- Matter
- Robotics
- Aeronautics
- Neurology
- Nanotechnology
SCI-CON
All elementary school and middle school students compete in St. John's annual SCI-CON, a science fair where each student is challenged to create, explore, and investigate their own experiment.
STEAM students will
- Choose their own subject they are curious about exploring
- Conduct an experiment
- Complete a lab report
- Explain and present their findings.
HOUR OF CODE
Hour of Code is a nationwide computer science innovation across the world that has students of all ages code for one hour.
Students learn
- Coding
- Computer Science Skills
- Digital Citizenship
- Technology-Based Teamwork
