What This Role Looks Like
Substitute needs can vary from day to day. Some assignments are known several weeks in advance, while others may arise the morning of the absence.
When a substitute need comes up, the Substitute Coordinator will reach out by text to see if you are available. Morning requests may come early, sometimes around 6:30 a.m., when a teacher is unexpectedly absent. Other assignments can be scheduled ahead of time.
Depending on the day, you may:
- Spend the entire day in one classroom.
- Cover multiple classes or grade levels.
- Support a specialist or another member of the teaching team.
- Assist with lunch, recess, carpool, or other school activities.
- Work with elementary or middle school students.
We will do our best to honor your grade-level and scheduling preferences whenever possible.
Substitute work can be occasional and the frequency of assignments may vary based on the needs of the school. This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible, part-time work and who enjoys the variety that each school day can bring.
